2018 Ultimate Omega Weekly Awards

2018 is in the books, and many, many, MANY weekly awards were handed out. So, in the spirit of statistical analysis, I’ve decided to compile what I have dubbed the ‘Ultimate Weekly Awards,’ these are a breakdown of who won the most in each respective category. While not official yearly awards, they serve as an interesting indicator as to who was the best of the best in this column.

Rising Star of the Week - Scotty Adams, Layne Kurobane (2)

Well, it’s no surprise that two of 2018’s most notable breakout stars are leading this category. Rising Star is rarely won more than once, but these two are so good that they decided to do just that. Both won the Spartan’s Title last year, with Scotty going on to challenge Finnegan Wakefield for the OWA World Championship in September. Who knows if such an honour awaits Layne Kurobane in the near future?

Promo Battle of the Week - Scotty Adams (6), Natalie Cage (4)

No surprises on the Alpha side of things. Scotty is a promo machine and regularly appeared in this category last year. His way with words left many an Alpha stumped with how to solve the puzzle that is the Silver Bullet. On the Goddesses team, it’s surprising to see relative newcomer Natalie Cage on top. She’s only been an active OWA competitor since the Odyssey brand launched, but she’s quickly risen up the ranks. To see her as the most prolific shit talker in her division does kind of make sense though, she has a habit of pissing people off.

Match of the Week - Kenny Drake (4), Sweet Roxy, HENDRIX, Natasha Night, TyAnna Jupiter (2)

Kenny Drake’s wars with the likes of Tarah Nova and Scott Oasis saw him frequently stealing the show and quite frankly disturbing us. But you can’t argue with numbers, Kenny Drake has been the talking point of OWA matches more than anyone else in 2018. The Goddesses have a bit more of a crowded field. All three Women’s World Champions made the cut, to the surprise of nobody. What’s a little surprising is the presence of Natasha Night, however. She didn’t hold any titles in 2018 but she still made her mark. Those impressive performances have not gone amiss, and she’s earned her place alongside her peers.

Moment of the Week - Kenny Drake, Nate Cage (3), Natalie Cage (4)

What’s that? Wolvesden had more memorable moments than anyone this year? If you’re shocked by that then I don’t think you should be watching OWA. The controversial actions of Nate and Kenny grabbed many a headline, and Nate’s sister had an equal amount of attention grabbing antics. While she’s since left Heaven’s Den, we’ll never forget the crazier things that these three terrifying visages got up to in 2018, and we have the facts to back it up.

Promoer of the Week - Scotty Adams, Nate Cage, Christopher Sabertooth, Isaac Thornton, Tarah Nova, Aria Jaxon (2), Natalie Cage (2)

The standard of promoing in the OWA is so high that there was no clear-cut winner here. The usual suspects of the microphone came out on top, with no particular shocks in the line up. All seven of these individuals had a strong year and are among the most feared talkers around. These are the ones to look out for in 2019.

Champion of the Week - Layne Kurobane (3), TyAnna Jupiter, Dulce Torres (1)

It makes sense that the Spartan Champion heads up this category. Layne’s had a stellar year and has made a habit of breathtaking performances in the squared circle. Whoever dethrones him will have most definitely earned it. On the women’s side, TyAnna and Dulce are still holding their respective titles and have faced stiff competition to keep them. They’re shining examples of just how strong the Odyssey brand can be.

Goddess of the Week - TyAnna Jupiter (7)

TyAnna’s reign not just as champion, but as the queen of Odyssey cannot be denied. An unprecedented seven awards in a single category, something that no other OWA talent has done. Her abilities only seem to grow sharper with every match, it will take someone very special to knock her off her perch.

Alpha of the Week - Finnegan Wakefield, Layne Kurobane (3)

Ladies and gentlemen, we have a tie! And what a tie at that. The two champions of Kingdom stand tall as the winningest Alphas of 2018. Finn has proven that he belongs in the top spot, taking on all comers and putting in consistently stellar performances. Layne is showcasing the potential to usurp him, though. His reign thus far as Spartan Champ has been thrilling, and it won’t be long before he has a hunger for world championship gold.
