After her match with “Sweet” Roxy on Odyssey this week, Natalie Cage was attacked by Wolvesden members Diantha Moreau and Roni De Vil. She was hit with various shots to the head from the pair, including a ConChairTo. Many were worried when Natalie collapsed halfway up the ramp and began to violently shake on the ground. We’ve now learned that she suffered a seizure due to her brain swelling and pushing up against her skull. We managed to get a quote from Dr. Sanjay P. Patel of the Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago.
“We’ve had to put Natalie into a medically induced coma to relieve the swelling of her brain. The operation was a success and her condition has drastically improved. Miraculously, she doesn’t appear to have suffered a concussion and should make a full recovery. But she will need to be kept here all week for observation.”
This obviously throws her advertised match against Wolvesden for Odyssey XV into question. The match is expected to main event the blockbuster show, representing the culmination of a conflict that has dominated Odyssey programming for months now. Natalie being cleared for the match looks unlikely, even if she hasn’t suffered a concussion. We were able to reach Odyssey GM, Viola DeMarco as she left Northwestern after visiting Natalie.
“Natalie might be the toughest woman I know, and it is often to her detriment. Right now, I’m not concerned with the main event of Odyssey XV being in jeopardy. I am concerned with my employee and my friend not having brain damage. I’m disgusted that people seem to think I only care about making the bottom line and producing great television. I think people forget that the OWA stars are human beings. They are not invincible and they are not robots who show up each week and perform without any pressure being put on their bodies.
“As of right now, I’ve been instructed by network heads to keep the match advertised until we know for certain what will happen. I wish I had more answers for you, but until Natalie is awake and responsive, we have no way of knowing. As for any punishment that Diantha and Roni have received? All I’ll say is that any punishment I hand down to them would be a mercy in comparison to what Natalie Cage will have in store for them. No further questions.”
There you have it, from the boss herself. Viola DeMarco’s level of compassion for the Odyssey talent has been admirable. Her leading of the brand has not been easy as she deals with road bump after road bump. Rumors have been floating around that network executives are bringing her performance into question, with talents like Natalie Cage being allowed to run amok. Whether there’s any truth to these rumors remains to be seen, we’ll be providing updates as and when they become available.
