Rising Star of the Week – Sonny Levitt
There’s a good debut, and then there’s beating one of the hottest prospects on Olympus in your first match. Sonny Levitt put away Zak Zero, a man who has had unbelievably close contests with both Gareth Cason and Tarah Nova these past couple of weeks. It was an impressive victory that quickly endeared Sonny to fans. His infectious energy and exciting in-ring performance certainly caught my eye, here’s hoping he sticks around and continues to impress.
Promo Battle of the Week – Wolvesden vs. Finnegan Wakefield and Scotty Adams
I’m confident that the announcement of this match caused much excitement among OWA viewers. Personal feelings aside, it was a blockbuster encounter that might be the most star-studded Kingdom match yet. Four of the very best promoers in the company went to war with their words and did not disappoint. Between Kenny Drake hijacking a TV studio and Finnegan Wakefield calling out the hypocrisy of how Wolvesden present themselves as champions, this one ran deep.
Match of the Week – Azumi Goto vs. Dulce Torres vs. Natasha Night
This was a high energy match with a break neck pace that took my breath away. The women of OWA have been on another level recently to build hype for the approaching Odyssey. Seeing an uneasy alliance formed between Azumi and Dulce (that quickly fell apart) was a fun sight, and every woman demonstrated why they’re not to be messed with. Azumi would eventually win and secure number one contendership to the Ring of Opportunity. Whether it’s Savannah Sunshine or Jessica Rose who stands tall as Queen after Burning Sky, they should be scared stiff as they’ve got possibly the most dangerous Goddess alive on their tale.
Moment of the Week – Meet the Women of Odyssey (Everyone included)
Speaking of Odyssey, what an incredible documentary short we got to hype its impending arrival. This HBO-esque segment introduced us to many of the Goddesses who will be gracing our screens every Saturday from September 1stand beyond. We got to see the personalities of multiple alluring talents explored, and it was only the tip of the iceberg. There are so many more women that will continue to build this company up and I am giddy with excitement to see it become a reality.
Promoer of the Week – Aria Jaxon
Aria went HARD this week. Not to rest on her laurels after a show-stealing performance last week, the crown jewel of women’s wrestling went in on Jon McAdams and verbally scorched “The Sovereign”. Jon’s rebuttal wasn’t short of its own fire, but Aria is currently operating on another level to anyone else in the entire promotion. This woman is charisma personified and I do NOT envy whoever is next in her firing line.
Goddess of the Week – Azumi Goto
Azumi seems to have a connection with the fans that very few wrestlers possess. There is a constant sense of desire from her supporters for her to find success, and she has made it clear that she’s a woman on a mission. Having been sent to the back of the line after getting screwed out of the Women’s Title at Boiling Point, she is now on the hunt for the one thing that can guarantee her a title shot: the Ring of Opportunity. Azumi Goto is a woman to fear and a Goddess to admire.
Alpha of the Week – Scotty Adams
I’ve already talked about the magnitude of this week’s Kingdom main event. It was the first ever Champion vs. Champion match in OWA history, as the tag champs took on the two men who will face off for the OWA World Championship at Vindication. In a massive moment (that could be argued as an upset, depending on your point of view), Scotty Adams pinned Kenny Drake with an assist from Finnegan Wakefield. This marks the first ever loss in tag team competition for Wolvesden, and saw two men who are current rivals put their differences aside to defeat the top tag team in OWA. This is disastrous for Wolvesden’s upcoming title defence against Heart and Seoul at Burning Sky, but it’s great news for Scotty Adams, who has another impressive win to add to his resume.
