Omega Weekly Awards XL

Rising Star of the Week - Ronnie Osbourne

You can’t really ask for a better debut than earning a win over one of Odyssey’s biggest threats. Ronnie Osbourne’s freshman outing yielded a victory over Ground Zero’s Lieta Collins. It’s two losses in a row now for Lieta, which must be frustrating to somebody whose entire family despises losing. But her loss is Ronnie’s gain, as the rocking newcomer no doubt turned some heads.

Promo Battle of the Week - The Dollhouse vs. The Wild Boys

Do both these teams know that they’re comedy geniuses? Probably, neither are gonna be winning any prizes in the humility department. Dollhouse weren’t to be outdone in their desire to put literally everybody on the roster on blast, as the Wild Boys had to get over their fear of hitting girls to head into their first tag title defence. It was ludicrously entertaining and makes me want to see these teams fight forever.

Match of the Week - CM Nas vs. Tarah Nova

It was hard for a lot of us to even imagine who could win this contest. Luckily, we didn’t have to. After the legendary couple beat the living snot out of each other for what felt like forever, a double count-out led to the final bell. Judas tried to save the match after Rick Walton abandoned CM Nas, but Jacob Senn showed up so that the final outcome would not be tainted. The biggest story coming out of this though is Bob Taylor’s announcement. Senn will now be defending his Omega Heavyweight Title against both Nova and Nas in a triple threat match at Final Destination. Talk about blockbuster.

Moment of the Week - The Top Guys Face Off (Azumi Goto and Natalie Cage)

It was the stare-down the entire world had been waiting for. After both these women won their respective bouts at Pluto’s Gate to preserve their Final Destination dream match, we were waiting with baited breath to see what they’d have to say to each other. Natalie Cage reminded all of us just how impressive her rise has been, while Azumi made it clear that she is not ready to give up being on top. The tension was then turned up a notch, as Natalie slapped Azumi across the face in an effort to bring out her darker side. It worked, seeing as Azumi snapped and had to be pulled off Cage by officials. This match is gonna slap.

Promoer of the Week - Christopher Sabertooth

It would seem Chris was about to hit rock bottom, lacking direction or purpose after failing to defeat CM Nas in the Omega Heavyweight Title tournament. His introspective promo that slowly saw him regain his confidence was a hell of a journey. Chris has long been one of the most gifted promoers in OWA, owing to his ability to weave a story together. He knew that defeating Bull Connors was a must-win scenario, and he illustrated it to us perfectly.

Champion of the Week - Jacob Senn

Just call him champ. Jacob Senn was seen by some as the underdog stepping into his own title defence. It’s an absurd thought, but he was facing one of the deadliest opponents he’s ever had to deal with. Miltiades was not in the mood to be sporting, taking advantage of any and every shot he had to exact violence on Senn. The Hall of Famer prevailed, however, and retained his belt in a tough contest. Looks like we’ll be seeing him in the main event of Final Destination, after all.

Goddess of the Week - Persephone Bane

Well, that’s how you bounce back from a big loss! Persephone Bane might have been the perceived “weak link” in the six-woman tag at Pluto’s Gate, but she’s found herself back in the spotlight after just one week. She was able to put away the ever-dangerous Eris, who was just coming off her insane street fight with Natalie Cage. Persephone now finds herself entering the Ascension to the Heavens Briefcase ladder match, representing Odyssey alongside Diantha Moreau.

Alpha of the Week - Christopher Sabertooth

As mentioned above, this was the last chance saloon for Chris. Bull Connors didn’t give Havoc an inch, but that was not enough. The tenacity of Sabertooth saw him secure maybe the biggest victory of his career, granting him a spot in a match that could yield a world title opportunity for Christopher. His career trajectory finally seems to be back where it was after he won the TV Title, and we can’t wait to see how far he can fly.
