Omega Weekly Awards XLI

Rising Star of the Week - Jake Keeton

The debuting wrestler was a debutant in name alone. Jake Keeton laced up the boots after a long time out of the game, and scored an impressive win against a fellow first-timer. His match with Dax Staley was an old-school encounter, with an emphasis on crisp technique and big-time power moves. We’ll be keeping a close eye on this one.

Promo Battle of the Week - Jake Keeton vs. Dax Staley

It didn’t feel like these two were new to OWA, as their exchange had every bit of brilliance as one you’d see between two top names. Dax and Jake brought their own unique styles to the table, as they cut promos from varying locations and informed us on who exactly they are. If this is the first sample of what they have to offer, we’re all looking forward to what the future holds.

Match of the Week - Donny Dragon vs. DiVa vs. Jimmy Wild

This one was simply utter chaos. It’s tough to sum up the carnage here accurately, as this was a triple threat on paper, but a six-pack challenge in reality. All three of the combatants’ partners got heavily involved, fully taking advantage of the no DQ rules. When the dust settled, Ground Zero stood tall, after Donny Dragon pinned tag champ, Jimmy Wild. This victory earned Ground Zero a place in the tag title match at Final Destination, setting up what will undoubtedly be another thrilling triple threat.

Moment of the Week - The Spartans Line Up (Layne Kurobane, Nate Cage and Jeff X)

Another huge match was confirmed for Final Destination, as the Spartan Title clash has been made official. Nate Cage called out Layne Kurobane and demanded a title shot, believing he’s long overdue a chance to be a singles champion. Layne accepted the challenge, before Jeff X jumped Nate from behind and hit him with a massive X-Crusher, cashing in his Keys to the Kingdom and making it a triple threat. This match will no doubt be a potential show stealer with these three combustible elements involved.

Promoer of the Week - Donny Dragon

Donny Dragon unwittingly made history this week. He wrestled on both Olympus and Kingdom in the same week, and won both matches. As if tapping out Alex Scott wasn’t enough, Donny followed things up by winning the massive triple threat as previously mentioned. His promos before each match were typically laced with sarcasm and venomous barbs, par for the course for Nate Cage’s handpicked prodigy at this point.

Champion of the Week - N/A

Goddess of the Week - Eris

Not one to let her recent failures let her down, Eris qualified for the Final Destination Goddesses Title match by defeating a game Lieta Collins. Not only did she beat her, she beat her so badly that she had to be assisted out of the arena with what looked like a nasty leg injury. Eris might want to spend some time looking over her shoulder, though, Nate Cage isn’t going to take too kindly to Eris hurting his wife...

Alpha of the Week - Bull Connors

Bull got himself back in the win column in a big way. After confirmation that he’ll be defending his God of War medallion at Final Destination against a returning Stark, Bull scored the winning pin in the main event of Olympus. Connors was able to coexist with Gareth Cason for long enough that they beat the blockbuster tandem of Monolith and Christopher Sabertooth. Bull’s got some big momentum behind him heading into the biggest test of his career so far, and you have to imagine he has world championship interests in 2019.
