Rising Star of the Week – Kiara Roberson
Kiara came into the maiden voyage of Odyssey with a mission to establish herself, and that is exactly what she did. Putting away both Belle Hughes and Roni in a break neck pace triple threat match, Kiara’s defiance and dominance impressed everyone in attendance. Keep an eye on this girl, she could be a force to be reckoned with.
Promo Battle of the Week – Eris vs. Jessykah von Scwarzburg
A mysterious, terrifying woman and a no-nonsense, MMA badass. This was always going to be an interesting styles clash, and their promo exchange had all the intrigue to match their presence. Eris’ use of disturbing imagery and cinematic presentation contrasted well with Jess’s (I’m not writing her full name) take no prisoners, threatening aura made for pure entertainment. I honestly wouldn’t mind seeing these two go at it again in the future.
Match of the Week – Aria Jaxon vs. Jeff X
Jeff X has forged himself a reputation as being able to hang with the big stars. His match with Aria Jaxon was the first of what was dubbed a “triple main event” for Kingdom, and it stole the show in every conceivable way. From the brutal beatdown on Aria, to her illustrious comeback, to the appearance of Isaac Thornton to end the proceedings, it was a high energy affair that could easily appear on a major show.
Moment of the Week – TyAnna Celebrates, Wolvesden Strike (TyAnna Jupiter, Natalie Cage and Diantha Moreau)
TyAnna’s win over Roxy was a feelgood moment for the ages, and her title celebration to close the debut episode of Odyssey seemed to be the ultimate complement to that win. That was until Wolvesden’s Goddess contingent made themselves known. Natalie Cage and Diantha Moreau laid down a beating on the champ that left her laid out at the top of the entrance ramp, making it clear that the vicious duo has gold in their sights.
Promoer of the Week – Layne Kurobane
Though he came up short in his title match, Layne reminded us all that he is not be trifled with. He tore down Monolith’s reputation of being truly unstoppable, and showed the real edge that he needs to make a name for himself. While he was outfoxed during the match itself, it was that edge that carried him so close to victory. Layne is one of the most impressive prospects in the OWA, there is undoubtedly title gold in his future.
Champion of the Week – Monolith
It was Monolith’s first ever title defence against Layne Kurobane, and boy did he prove that he’s worthy of the hype. Climbing to the top is one thing, but staying there is the real challenge. In a match that saw Layne shockingly have Monolith on the defence for most of the closing minutes, Mono went to town with an out of nowhere Stone’s Throw from the top rope to put away Layne. The Spartan Title is in good hands in the post-Scotty Adams era, and Monolith’s grip might be impossible to break.
Goddess of the Week – Natasha Night
Natasha Night scored what could be called a huge upset over Azumi Goto this week. The number one contender for the Ring of Opportunity was assumed by many to be the clear-cut winner, but this wasn’t the case. Natasha has now inserted herself into the conversation for contendership when it comes to that coveted ring. No matter who wins between Zumi and Savannah, Natasha is ready and primed for an opportunity.
Alpha of the Week – Aria Jaxon
Aria Jaxon has long been undeniable in this business, now she truly is the standard. Continuing her undefeated streak in the Alpha division, she added Jeff X to her ever-growing list of victims with another hard-fought victory. Aria simply keeps on winning, and it’s a matter of when, not if, she’s in the OWA World Championship picture. I wouldn’t want to be Finnegan Wakefield or Scotty Adams when this woman is what could potentially be waiting for you.
