Rising Star of the Week – Jax Wylde
Wow, what happened to this guy? Jax Wylde’s OWA run has been a…wild ride (god damn it). He got his ass kicked a bunch (including losing a match to J.D. Damon via Nate Cage brass knucks), got released, then got hired back and is eager to make a statement. While Wolvesden normally like to play the interference game, Nate Cage was so preoccupied at ringside with pondering his future that he looked like he didn’t even know a match was going on. Jax secured victory over J.D. in a rematch and looks to not be an afterthought in his OWA do-over.
Promo Battle of the Week – Eris vs. Kiara Roberson
Two of the most exciting new figures on the Odyssey brand, these two women couldn’t be any more different. Kiara made it clear that she’s not here to be intimidated, showcasing her defiant nature that makes her so relatable. Eris was her usual terrifying self, utilising evocative imagery to highlight why she was going to kill her opponent. Wonderful work.
Match of the Week – Jon McAdams vs. Dustin Duke
These two men damn near killed each other, which is what everyone wanted, let’s be honest. The first ever OWA bullrope match did not disappoint, as two of Kingdom’s most bitter rivals settled their score with a true battle for the ages. When the dust settled, Jon McAdams was the man with the victory, but I think they both left a piece of themselves in that ring. Both figuratively and literally.
Moment of the Week – Kevin Devastation Arrives (Kevin Devastation and CASPIAN)
CASPIAN’s mysterious stalker revealed their identity, and it was none other than Kevin Devastation. The haunting spectre has finally made himself known in the OWA, and he has selected El Capitan as his first target. CASPIAN got the absolute piss beaten out of him in a disturbing display. While he’s preoccupied with CASPIAN now, everyone on Kingdom had better be on notice, as Mr. Devastation is a man to be feared.
Promoer of the Week – ‘Radical’ Gabe Reno
Gabe was keen to let the world know who he was with his promo, and it was certainly effective. Managing to educate the Olympus viewers on just who he was and why he was going to pick apart Jack Murdock in their eventual match (which he did). Between following through on his word and showcasing his personality very well indeed, Gabe’s got some real potential.
Champion of the Week – Andre Virgo
Okay, so Andre isn’t technicallyan OWA champion, but he is the SSW Junior Heavyweight Champion, and he was the only titleholder this week who actually won their match, so I’m having this. Andre managed to put away none other than the OWA most prolific champion, Gareth Cason, despite being sneak attacked before the match even started. Andre’s win was monumental. Gareth’s lucky he got a week off defending his belt, or Virgo would be holding gold here and in SSW.
Goddess of the Week – Savannah Sunshine
I’m not even gonna keep track of how many times Savannah Sunshine wins this award anymore (it’s fucking FOUR). She is an inspiration to every woman in that locker room, and I’m running out of praise to heap on the woman who truly has earned the title of Queen. She defended her Ring of Opportunity once again, continuing her run through every woman put in front of her. With Azumi Goto waiting at Vindication and a triple threat match that could see a new OWA Women’s Champion crowned, Savannah still has her hands full, but if anyone can handle the pressure, it’s her.
Alpha of the Week – Jon McAdams
Jon took Dustin Duke to task as previously mentioned, reminding us all that he is very much still a force to be reckoned with. After taking consecutive losses to Nate Cage and Aria Jaxon on Kingdom, McAdams absolutely needed to get a W here. And he did so in spectacular fashion. Putting away his enemy in a vicious bullrope match, ‘The Sovereign’ is not going quietly into that good night, he’s going guns blazing and letting the world know that he’s got plenty of gas left in the tank.
