Rising Star of the Week - Maggall The Magnanimous
He may not have won his match with Bull Connors, but Maggall’s not to be taken lightly. Coming into Revelations, he was fresh off pinfall victories over both the Tag Team and Television Champions, and he very nearly added the God of War’s scalp to his already impressive collection. If Maggall keeps stringing together dominant performances and scores some key victories, he could be a real force to be reckoned with on Olympus.
Promo Battle of the Week - Natalie Cage and Diantha Moreau
It was the conclusion of a heartbreaking tale. Natalie and Diantha aired their grievances in the way only they know how. Natalie from a hospital bed, and Diantha from the sick and twisted bowels of Heaven’s Den. The hatred that has formed between these two women is unlike anything we’ve ever seen in the OWA before. Regardless of the eventual winner, both of these women will go on to do great things, of that I have no doubt.
Match of the Week - Kenny Drake vs. Tarah Nova
It was violent, emotional, draining, and honestly hard to watch. We always knew that the final chapter of Kenny and Tarah’s bloodsoaked saga would be one to remember, but I don’t know if we’ll ever see anything quite like this in OWA again. There were highs and lows, the eventual ending of the match seeing Tarah literal seconds away from electrocuting Kenny to oblivion, forcing Niki Khan to throw in the towel. We were all exhausted by the end, but we witnessed a genuine candidate for greatest OWA match of all-time.
Moment of the Week - Tarah Nova Escapes The Den (Tarah Nova, CM Nas and Kenny Drake)
Who didn’t have tears in their eyes watching this? I mean, maybe it was just me, I don’t know, leave me alone! Tarah finally putting Wolvesden behind her and looking forward to a (relatively) pain-free life with her beau, CM Nas reminded me why I love this business. To see the two larger than life stars share Kenny’s demise together was special, the year couldn’t be capped off in a more perfect way.
Promoer of the Week - Tarah Nova
Damn, Tarah really scooping up all the awards this week, but with good reason. Her swan song to the Kenny Drake war was poetic. Her summation of its impact on her life allowed Nova to bear her soul and remind the world why they support her in the first place. It was fraught with genuine feeling and in many ways felt like a goodbye. In many other ways, however, it felt like the beginning of a new chapter.
Champion of the Week - Andre Virgo
You may not like how he retained his title, but Andre Virgo and Miltiades put on a classic. Had it not been for the opener and main event of Revelations, this would absolutely be in the match of the year conversation. Virgo’s cheap retention of the Junior Heavyweight Title did somewhat detract from an otherwise stellar match, but he managed to hold onto his nearest and dearest against a game opponent. Miltiades packed on the muscle ahead of his big return, but the extra power still wasn’t enough to end the reign of one of the industry’s hottest new stars.
Goddess of the Week - Natalie Cage
Tarah Nova wasn’t the only woman who closed the book on Wolvesden this week. Natalie Cage walked into a straight up warzone against Diantha Moreau and Roni De Vil. Taking some of the most horrific moves we’ve ever seen on Odyssey, Natalie suffered the likes of a German suplex into the ring post, knees to the face followed by a curb stomp, and then a 50-foot fall from a scaffold with Roni in tow. At the end of it all, Natalie stood victorious in a disturbingly violent main event, cementing her position as one of Odyssey’s fastest rising stars. 2019 is going to be Natalie Cage’s year.
Alpha of the Week - CM Nas/Tarah Nova
And we close out the final batch of 2019 awards with dual honours for OWA’s most beloved couple (sorry to Hunter and Koji). It’s impossible to pick who had the better week so why not both? Tarah started Revelations off by vanquishing Kenny Drake in a monumental effort, and CM Nas capped off the night with a stunning victory over John Doe, where everything but the kitchen sink got brought out...actually, no, the kitchen sink also played a part. I don’t know what 2019 holds for these two, but they both deserve to reap the rewards of putting their bodies and souls on the line for our entertainment.
