Omega Weekly Awards XXXI

Rising Star of the Week - Pandora Barrett

In what might just be the greatest debut performance in OWA history, Pandora Barrett showed the world who she is and that she is not to be messed with. It’s no easy task facing the first ever Queen of the Ring and perennial fan favorite, Savannah Sunshine, even if her momentum has stalled recently. Pandora didn’t seem to care though, defeating Sunshine in a convincing performance that has instantly put her on the map. Expect big things to come this girl’s way if she is able to follow through on this victory.

Promo Battle of the Week - RD3 & Aria Jaxon Vs. Scott Oasis & Mongoose McQueen

Four combustible elements and crucially: four people who don’t play well with others. Everyone said their piece and made it clear that they’re not too fond of their selected brothers and sisters in arms. Scott Oasis forced to pair with the man who picked him apart last week, RD3 paired with, well, anybody. It was never going to end well. But one thing everyone here has in common is that they’re tremendous promoers and they let us all know. If it weren’t for the title match, this could have easily been the main event.

Match of the Week - Finnegan Wakefield Vs. Jon McAdams

I got out of breath just watching this thing. The first fall of this match was a match of the year contender on its own, the additional two falls were just icing on a technically proficient, sweaty cake. While McAdams evened the score after dropping the first fall, ultimate victory was not to be, as Wakefield doubled up on Andromedas to clinch victory. It’s a reign that has been defined by classic performances and this was another notch for the champ’s very impressive belt.

Moment of the Week - Nate and Jeff Go To Hell (Nate Cage and Jeff X)

Can we call Righteous Rules a match? Sure, there was an opening bell and a ref but in the brief time these two Alphas tangled, they made a point of attempting to actually murder one another. In the climactic finale, we saw a military jeep containing both men fly off the stage and fling them into a heap of barbed wire. After they miraculously made their way to their feet and traded a few blows, they promptly collapsed and the “match” was declared a no contest. The OWA fans were shocked at the display, as I’m sure most people were, but this definitely isn’t the end of what has become the company’s most significant blood feud.

Promoer of the Week - Finnegan Wakefield

Finn really wasn’t messing about this week, was he? He verbally worked Jon McAdams into submission with his expansive articulation on why Kingdom belongs to him. When somebody is as a aggressively talented a wordsmith as this, getting inside people’s heads means half the battle is already won before the bell even rings. Don’t fall into the trap of thinking that Finnegan Wakefield is just a technical wizard, because that will be your downfall.

Champion of the Week - Dulce Torres

If there’s one thing we know about Dulce, it’s that she is all heart. In the main event of Kingdom, she stepped in against a frankly deranged Diantha Moreau. While the title was not on the line, they way these two ladies fought, you’d think that it was. Ending in a draw that required security to break things up, the idea of a Goddesses Title feud between Dulce and Diantha is scintillating and makes perfect sense on paper. Diantha has a legitimate argument to make in Dulce still having the belt, as she helped her to retain against Natalie Cage back at Odyssey XV. We’ll have to wait and see how this one plays out.

Goddess of the Week - “Sweet” Roxy

Roxy really laid down the gauntlet this week and asserted Dollhouse’s plans for the new year. After earning a quick victory over the team of Rochelle and a returning Serenity Scorpio, Roxy led her team on the mic and said that she wants to make history; she wants to win the OWA Bloodline Tag Team Championships. Dollhouse would certainly be at an advantage with those belts, seeing as one member would get to take a night off when defending them. Obviously, whether they get a shot remains to be seen, but Roxy’s out to drape herself in gold.

Alpha of the Week - Finnegan Wakefield

Finnegan Wakefield has manifested a true aura as an unbeatable champion in OWA. He’s entering his eighth month as a world champ and has seemingly dusted off all of the available competition. Jon McAdams fought like his life depended on it, but it wasn’t quite enough to get the job done. At this point, Finn might drop this championship when he feels like it, because he looks to be incapable of losing.
