Omega Weekly Awards XXXV

Rising Star of the Week - Nikita LaShae

It was only a matter of time before we saw Nikita in this category. She has impressed to no end thus far in OWA. Her debut in the Clash of the Goddesses caught our attention, as has the little win streak she’s gone on since. Another person whose attention has been caught is one Dulce Torres, who has handpicked Nikita to challenge her for the Goddesses Title at Pluto’s Gate. It’s a major task for someone so new to the company, but the title is all about seizing every opportunity that you can, and Nikita knows that.

Promo Battle of the Week - Christopher Sabertooth vs. Monolith

It was remarkable to watch these two masters of the mic gun for each other this week. Monolith’s psychological examination of Chris was offset by Sabertooth’s reflective state. His failure to capture the Omega Heavyweight Title has clearly hit him hard, and he was laser focused on telling Monolith why it’s his destiny to get back to that #1 contender’s spot.

Match of the Week - Azumi Goto vs. Nicole Fyre

Our Women’s World Champion has a habit of finding herself in the MOTW column. Her reputation as one of the best technicians in the world today was on full display, in a riveting main event bout with Nicole Fyre. After the two women seemed to be equal in skill, without much between them, Azumi was able to add another submission victory to her portfolio and solidify her place on the throne.

Moment of the Week - Wolvesden Crumbles (Nate Cage, Kenny Drake, Donny Dragon, James Anderson, Lieta Collins and Niki Khan)

It was a truly shocking moment that has left the OWA Universe reeling. It appeared that Nate Cage came out this week to offer an olive branch to his closest friend, only to to be excommunicated from Wolvesden by Kenny Drake. His response? Beat down Kenny mercilessly, with the aid of Donny Dragon, a debuting James Anderson, and Odyssey’s Lieta Collins, who we’ve now learned is married to Nate. The sight of the battered Kenny and Niki holding hands on the floor was heartbreaking, while the formation of the stable who are believed to be called Ground Zero may change the face of this entire company.

Promoer of the Week - Monolith

Monolith’s long been considered one of the most ingenious talkers in OWA. His intellectual breakdown of opponents often surprises, with its stark contrast to his hulking figure. He broke down Christopher Sabertooth astutely, while educating us a little on his mysterious past. While he’d (barely) lose the eventual match by countout, he reminded all of us why he has such a fearsome reputation.

Champion of the Week - Layne Kurobane

Layne’s standing as Spartan Champion is still intact, as he continues his role as one of the best titleholders in company history. He was almost outdone by the recently returned Keelan Callihan, and seemed to be in genuine trouble at numerous points. He was able to pull out the victory once more, however, notching up another impressive defence of his title.

Goddess of the Week - Natalie Cage

The Queen of the Clash made good on her promise to bring her A-game, by disposing of the debuting Pandora in a convincing effort. She defended her Final Destination title shot with conviction to prove that she is as equally battle hardened as Azumi Goto. Afterwards, she was blinded by a Red Mist from Eris, setting up what will surely be an epic rematch at the upcoming Pluto’s Gate. I can’t wait to see how Natalie opts to take her revenge in the coming weeks.

Alpha of the Week - Tarah Nova

Tarah exercised an old demon this week, avenging her loss to Miltiades from Game Over last year. In an ironic twist, she scored the victory with Miltiades kicking out immediately after the ref counted three, much like how she did the same in their last encounter. The ShockCollar has now advanced to the semifinals of the Omega Heavyweight Championship Tournament, and is only two wins away from a world title match at Final Destination, something that I think all of us want to see.
