Omega Weekly Awards XXXVII

Rising Star of the Week - Nicole Fyre

The OWT trainer got a quick and convincing submission win over Amy-Jayne this week, proving that you can both breed the best and be the best. Viola DeMarco certainly thinks very highly of her abilities, to the point she’ll be representing as part of her team at Pluto’s Gate. As long as she doesn’t let the Dollhouse get to her head, she should be alright.

Promo Battle of the Week - Natalie Cage & Azumi Goto vs. Diantha Moreau and Eris

The main event of Odyssey did not disappoint, and the hype going into it was huge. All four women are among the most feared microphone maestros in the division, and they reminded the world why they’re in the spot that they are.

Match of the Week - Reginald Dampshaw III vs. Jon McAdams

RD3 is quickly rising up the ranks as one of Kingdom’s most promising prospects. As an impressive feather in his cap, he got a thrilling victory over Jon McAdams, in a competitive match that proved yet again why he’s such a threat. He may look crazy, but he can more than get it done in the ring.

Moment of the Week - The Cages Make it Official (Nate Cage and Natalie Cage)

This contract signing went just about as expected. Nate talked a lot of shit, Natalie wanted to fight, Lieta collins drove Natalie through a table. Can we just have this match already? I want to see Nate get his ass handed to him.

Promoer of the Week - Jeff X

Jeff’s just too good. Between expertly highlighting the deceit woven into Donny Dragon’s allegiance with Ground Zero, to straight up telling his partner to stay out of his way so he could go to work, the X man put everyone on notice. If you’ve pissed him off, I wouldn’t expect him to have many kind words for you.

Champion of the Week - Layne Kurobane

In the main event, the Spartan Champ put away the #1 contender for the OWA World Championship, proving yet again that he’s an elite competitor. While he has his own match with Kevin Maverick to worry about at Divine Retribution, Layne’s win/loss record is so heavily skewed towards Ws that another world title shot might not be far off.

Goddess of the Week - Diantha Moreau

Eris may have pinned Natalie Cage this week, which you could argue puts her in line to win GOTW for a second week in a row, but Diantha Moreau masterminded the whole thing. She’s clearly learned very well from Natalie, as Diantha’s psychological warfare was on another level here. She brought back Erica Ford, whose presence paid off in dividends by handcuffing Azumi Goto to the ring post to make it a 2-on-1 handicap match. The ensuing beatdown on Natalie Cage was tough to watch, and Diantha was insistent on continued offence until her former mentor could no longer stand. It was horrific but effective, and has me seriously considering the possibility of Diantha taking the title off Azumi at Pluto’s Gate.

Alpha of the Week - Kevin Maverick

There’s making an impression, and then there’s pinning the OWA World Champion. Kevin’s gone from being a Rising Star to a man with a pinfall victory over Scott Oasis himself. There’s a pretty major caveat in the form of Moongoose McQueen, but Kevin still won with his own power. I hope Layne Kurobane was watching closely, because he’s got some stiff competition for that Spartan Title.
