OWA.com Exclusive: April Song Offers Her Candid Thoughts.

[As “Full Force” by RIDER CHIPS still blares on in the background, a disappointed but relaxed April is helped to a temporary press station near the locker room to give her thoughts about the loss she just suffered at the hands of Azumi Goto. She is handed her LAW Specialists Championship belt as she sits down, rubbing her pained jaw before speaking.]

April: Well. That didn’t go how I expected. Azumi had been behind me for so long that I never expected her to actually get to my level or pass me one day. Don’t get me wrong, I like the girl and respect her even though our general philosophies about life and wrestling couldn’t be more different. Tonight, you all got to see what two people giving their all can do in that ring. She was able to finally beat me. She even got a World Championship out of it. Good for her. Just to be clear about something to you all in that this is a one-time deal right now. I was asked to be her opponent by some very persuasive people and considering that a title was on the line, I don’t mind taking the match on short notice. I am proud to have been her final test of worthiness to be a World Champion. She’s been a Champion before, don’t get me wrong, but this time it was truly earned. She overcame so much adversity here and to finally beat me, heh, I have to give her credit where it’s due. I thought for sure once she was in the Killer Clutch she would pass out or tap out, but she found a way.

[April pauses for a moment, obviously fatigued from the rigorous match. She holds her title up a bit so the press can see it before looking at it herself.]

April: I always have gone through hell winning belts on my own. The tag team thing was a bit easier, I have to say. But this, this is hard. No partners to depend on. No wingmen to watch your back. It’s just you. I….still got a lot to do in LAW. While I’m proud to be the Specialists Champion and I’m proud to represent the LAW brand here tonight, I want to take care of some business there first. I want to see if I can find that extra gear, that extra burst of energy that Azumi had. That fighting spirit. In terms of wrestling she is about the same as she always has been. But her heart...that’s truly grown since I’ve seen her last. So, I’m gonna go back to LAW for the time being, defend this title and hopefully scoop up another title that I’ve been chasing. Once that is done, I’ll come back here. I’m going to find that extra gear. I thank OWA again for the opportunity and I want to wish Azumi well. We’re going to fight again, just not any time soon. Will she be champion here once I have that opportunity to compete with her again? I really don’t know. I just know that if she’s the best this company has right now, I’m not where I need to be just yet, but not far off.

[April is preparing to walk off but one reporter clears his throat rather reluctantly before posing a question.]

Reporter; Miss Song...I’m not sure if you watched the Clash of the Goddesses-

April: I did.

Reporter: ...Someone that you have had a long war with, Stephanie Matsuda, competed here tonight. My question is two-pronged: Are you going to sign with OWA in the near future and if you do will Stephanie be your first order of business or will challenging for the OWA Women’s World Championship take priority.

[April’s face becomes completely devoid of emotion once the words “Stephanie Matsuda” are uttered. She stands there silently staring at the reporter, who has noticed her stance and is becoming extremely uncomfortable.]

April: I answered your first question already. I do plan on coming to OWA eventually, but I’ve got a lot of work to do. People cheered and were happy to see me tonight, but the facts are that I haven’t won a match here the two times I’ve been here so I’m not ready to work here full time. At least not as I am. As far as the second part of your question is concerned, I won’t ask for special treatment once I’ve come here to work full time. I’ll work my way into contention for the OWA Women’s World Championship. Matsuda? I hear she got married, so congratulations to her. One thing that she better understand however...vengeance doesn’t have a fucking time limit. I haven’t forgotten what she did. She better not have either. She knows what happens if I see her standing anywhere within ten feet of me. It’s on sight. We’re done here.

[After freeing her wrists of athletic tape and picking her title back up, April walks briskly as she can past the press to the locker room area, avoiding all other questions coming her way as the screen slowly fades to black.]
