Rising Star of the Week - Adelmar Sauer
The German giant picked up his first win this week, and it was against a noteworthy opponent. Sauer may have received a minor assist from guest ref Jeff X, but his dismantling of RD3 was certainly a sight to behold. He was coming in off the back of two straight losses and knew he couldn’t afford a third, so this was a hell of a way to bounce back for the upstart.
Promo Battle of the Week - CM Nas vs. Christopher Sabertooth
It was the main event and boy was it hyped up like one. Two of the very best in the business went to war on the mic, Sabertooth acknowledged he was backed into a corner, and Nas made it clear that he will not move out of the way for the new guard. It was a classic clash of old vs. new, and showcased the full range of emotions that both men were feeling heading into their first-time ever bout.
Match of the Week - Donny Dragon vs. Hans Olsen
Donny Dragon looked to follow up his huge upset submission victory over Scotty Adams with a win over an Olympic gold medallist. The two friends treated us to a breathtaking technical battle, with Olsen focusing on picking apart Donny’s leg, while the Ground Zero member proved to be a deadly counter wrestler. It looked like Donny was done for, with his ankle torn to shreds, but he managed to score a roll-up out of nowhere to extend his win streak to 3-0. Hopefully, this isn’t the last we’ve seen of these two facing off.
Moment of the Week - Natalie Cage Invades (Natalie Cage)
Immediately after that match, James Anderson made his presence known and attacked Hans Olsen, much to the confusion and annoyance of his stablemate, Donny Dragon. Before long, a masked figure took it to Ground Zero, before revealing themselves to be Odyssey’s Natalie Cage. The crowd erupted as she threatened to end Donny’s career with a lead pipe, unless Vernon Tressler granted her a one-day Kingdom contract to face her brother at Divine Retribution. It was a truly shocking moment that will live on in the memories of fans for some time.
Promoer of the Week - Reginald Dampshaw III
RD3 may not have won his match this week, but that doesn't take away from his stellar promo work. He’s long been one of the best talkers this company has, but this is shockingly his first time winning this award. It was deserved, though, he was able to streamline his fractured mental state to articulate why he is targeting Jeff X and, more importantly, why he was not impressed by Ademar Sauer. It was compelling work from the psychotic Brit, and I’m sure he’s got a bright future.
Champion of the Week - Dulce Torres
Our Goddesses Champion didn’t disappoint in the main event of Odyssey this week. She was able to ward off Ground Zero member Lieta Collins in a physically grueling match. The title wasn’t on the line, but she sure as hell fought like it was. With the spectre of Nikita LaShae waiting for her shot at Pluto’s Gate, a big win here was integral for Dulce, as her incredible run of form continues.
Goddess of the Week - Eris
Eris doesn’t get paid by the hour, it seems. Kiara Roberson’s among the most lovable figures on Odyssey, but I don’t think Eris cares. She disposed of the spunky Australian in under a minute to send a message to everyone that she’s back and ready to dominate. There’s the slight caveat that she got thrown off the stage by Natalie Cage afterwards, but still, she got a good win. I hope she’s able to walk though.
Alpha of the Week - CM Nas
The dream match is on, finally. CM Nas defeated Christopher Sabertooth in the Olympus main event, marching towards the final of the Omega Heavyweight Title tournament. Waiting for him in that final? His own wife, Tarah Nova. The OWA Universe has wanted this match for what feels like forever, and it will finally become a reality at Scorched Earth. Nas is now one win away from headlining his own creation, Final Destination, and that’s good enough to be this week’s top Alpha.
