Weekly Awards XVII

Rising Star of the Week - DiVa

Like the Dollhouse or not, they’re quickly racking up wins on their quest to relieve TyAnna Jupiter of the OWA Women’s World Championship. She picked up a victory against Amora Ferris with a little bit of help from her friends, but when you’re making money and earning W’s, does it matter? DiVa would tell you otherwise. Roxy has brought an insurance policy to Odyssey to once again become champion, and that insurance policy might be a threat to the gold herself…

Promo Battle of the Week - TyAnna Jupiter and Savannah Sunshine vs. Wolvesden

TyAnna and Savannah were not taking any prisoners this week. They recognised the threat of the perpetual thorns in their side in Wolvesden and went on the offensive. Diantha Moreau didn’t mince words in her response, showcasing the dark and sinister nature of her inner wolf. Wolvesden has been running roughshod over Odyssey even without Natalie Cage leading the charge, they’re still very much a major threat.

Match of the Week - Scott Oasis vs. Kenny Drake

It’s over. It’s finally over. I’m going to get very personal here, the last six months of my life have not been easy. I’ve had to watch as my husband has become consumed with the scourge of Wolvesden. It wasn’t enough to put down that weirdo Nate Cage, he had to put a stop to Kenny Drake as well. This match was the most brutal maybe in the history of the OWA. Kenny Drake got sent through the ring and straight to hell, Michael Bishop made a surprise return, Tarah Nova showed her true colours in siding with Kenny. There was so much going on here that it was difficult to take in. But take it in we did, and the result could not have been better. Maybe Kenny Drake will finally get the message that we don’t want him here.

Moment of the Week - Natalie Cage Takes Over (Natalie Cage)

I’m LOVING this new side to Natalie Cage. She’s always been talented but, in my mind, held back by the Wolvesden bullcrap. The response she received when she hijacked Odyssey this week was one of the biggest pops I can recall in the OWA. It was like a bonafide rockstar had entered the room. Natalie went all in and called out everyone from Wolvesden to Viola DeMarco. She was so beloved here that even Viola herself got booed, something I thought I’d never see. Natalie gave us all a warning: that Wolvesden were in her sights. She followed through on this by bookending the night, showing up in the main event to deck Diantha Moreau and Roni De Vil with a kendo stick and show solidarity with former rival, TyAnna Jupiter. She said at the start that Odyssey was now the Natalie Cage Show, and honestly, she might be right.

Promoer of the Week - Jeff X

Yet again, Jeff delivered a monumental promo to prove that he is ready for whatever is coming for him. He managed to gather enough momentum to beat RD3 and reassure us that Nate Cage isn’t in his head. That remains to be seen, as Nate is a master manipulator (as much as I hate to admit it), but I can’t wait to see the two of them exchange words again. Jeff’s grown as a performer since the God of War tournament and isn’t in the OWA to be anyone’s doormat.

Champion of the Week - Layne Kurobane

It’s the second week in a row that Layne’s won this award, but the Spartan Champion is there to fight and be the best. Layne followed up a major victory over Aria Jaxon with a victory over inaugural champion, Scotty Adams. Layne has a defence set against RD3 next, and if he retains, we’ll be seeing him in this category again. Truly one of the hardest working performers in the entire company.

Goddess of the Week - TyAnna Jupiter

TyAnna had a lot to deal with emotionally this week. But herself and Savannah Sunshine overcame Wolvesden and appeared to bury the hatchet with Natalie Cage. Odyssey had a powerful ending that saw Natalie revelling in her run-in, juxtaposed by TyAnna and Savannah celebrating like the close friends that they are. TyAnna’s made a habit of finding herself in this awards section and I wouldn’t expect her to leave it any time soon. She really is a cut above the rest.

Alpha of the Week - Scott Oasis

Call me biased, call me whatever you want, Scott Oasis had the single best performance of anyone else in the OWA this week. Prove me wrong. I had to watch my husband get beaten down by that scumbag Kenny Drake and his goons, while a bunch of them held me HOSTAGE. But I knew he’d pull through, I knew he’d win. Because he’s “The Measuring Stick,” because he’s better than Wolvesden. He’s run through all of them because he can. He is the undisputed Alpha of the Week and of my heart.
